Over the summer I have been studying Afghan culture and Islam's history to make sense of what is happening in our world today. What I find over and over is that love and acceptance was preached by Prophet Muhammad and all his disciples. The message of love and acceptance is the subject of writings by many Islamic philosophers, poets, Sufis and mystics of ancient times. This quote from Rumi encapsulates what people should practice:
Christian, Jew, Muslim, Shaman, Zoroastrain, stone, ground, mountain, river, each has a secret way of being wtih the mysterey, unique and not to be judged.
This post is in remembrance of the 9/11 victims, all Afghan civilians who have died in the past 32 years of war, all US soldiers who have been killed in combat and their families.
